PCS: Millionaire Cameron’s economic illiteracy causes misery for millions

Commenting ahead of prime minister David Cameron's speech to the Conservative party conference, Public and Commercial Services union general secretary Mark Serwotka said:

"The latest figures show our economy is flatlining because the government is cutting when it should be spending and putting money in people's pockets.

"Instead of investing in our future, millionaire ministers have put up VAT and are cutting jobs and pay and threatening to raid the pensions of hard-pressed public servants, and all the while food and fuel prices continue to soar.

"In this context, it is not only insulting that Cameron should even consider lecturing people about paying off their credit cards, it is economically illiterate.

"But of course while their government's policies are causing misery for millions, this time next year Cameron and Osborne will still be millionaires."
