A healthy start to 2015

Obesity is a big issue this week, with National Obesity Awareness Week encouraging the nation to make a new year's resolution to improve our health. We’re doing our bit to encourage colleagues to eat healthily by holding healthy eating lunches at canteens across our sites.

The lunches will showcase how our brands can be used to make a range of healthy and easy to cook dishes! For all the recipes and nutritional information used in the lunches click here.

Our development Chef, Anthony Warner, who helped create the selection of healthy recipes, said: “As a food company it’s important that we teach colleagues how simple it is to eat healthily.”

With Obesity on the rise in the UK it’s important we continue to work hard to provide our consumers and colleagues with healthier options, a key priority on our Sustainability agenda.

In 2013 we signed the Public Health Responsibility Deal calorie reduction pledge, which saw us reduce calories in one third of our branded portfolio. We also committed to ensure that at least 30% of products launched each year would provide consumers with lower calorie choices.

Following our success in reducing salt across more than 600 products in the last few years, we agreed in 2014 to deliver further salt reductions as part of the Governments new 2017 targets. We continue to remain a leading supporter of voluntary actions to improve public health.
