Unemployment high, wages low – life in Tory Britain

Commenting on today's unemployment and pay figures, Public and Commercial Services union general secretary Mark Serwotka said:

"The figures make for grim reading but they tell the story of life in Tory Britain today, with unemployment remaining high and wages being cut across our economy.

"We warned more than two years ago that austerity would not work and we have been proved right.

"We urgently need investment in jobs and pay rises to reverse the catastrophic fall in people's living standards and to get our economy moving again."
