NUT Cymru backs new qualifications body for Wales

Commenting on the announcement of a new qualifications body for Wales, NUT Cymru Secretary, David Evans, said:

“We are pleased that the Minister has acted on this recommendation by the review board.  There will still need to be a detailed discussion around the establishment, remit and functions of the board, but it is necessary to divorce the Minister’s regulatory function from the future operation.  Hopefully this will provide an independent quality assurance for qualifications in Wales.

“Following on from the inclusive approach that shaped the original report, we look forward to working with the Welsh Government in contributing to the discussions around the development of Qualifications Wales, as well as other recommendations that have been put forward as part of this process.”
