NUT: Thousands of teachers to give their views on education policy in Wales

The views of thousands of teachers in Wales will be sought as part of a comprehensive analysis of the Welsh Government’s education policies. NUT Cymru, Wales’ largest union for qualified teachers, will be conducting the survey in order to gauge the way teachers feel about a range of policies being implemented by the Welsh Government.

David Evans, Wales Secretary of the NUT, launching the survey today said:

“This survey is focussed on ensuring that the many thousands of teachers represented by the NUT across Wales can express how they feel about changes being implemented by the Welsh Government. We will specifically be looking for the views of teachers on the banding system, funding for schools, how the Government communicates with the profession and workload concerns. I am sure the data will provide the Welsh Government, and all interested parties, with real insight into what teachers in Wales think about the way the education system operates.

“This survey will be put to every member of the NUT in Wales and will be a significant reflection of how the profession believes the Welsh Government performs. From specific policies such as banding and funding to an overview of how teachers feel the sector is consulted, the responses will certainly provide food for thought.

“The results will be announced in the coming weeks when members have returned their completed surveys. We hope that politicians from all backgrounds will work with us in evaluating what the responses mean, and how we address concerns within the education sector in Wales.”
