BSIA: Better value security measures

Extending the value of your security measures at this year's TWM event

Join the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) at this year's edition of Total Workplace Management on the 11th and 12th of October. The BSIA will be exhibiting on stand B56 as well as hosting a panel aimed at helping Facilities Managers identify and make the most of the many non-security functions of their security systems. The Association's Information Destruction section will also be exhibiting for the first time, at stand B74, to raise awareness on the importance of effective data destruction.

Total Workplace Management, the popular exhibition and conference aimed specifically at facilities management and estates professionals, returns to London's Olympia on 11th and 12th October, aiming at helping FM professionals reduce costs, improve efficiencies and reduce carbon emissions. TWM also includes a useful programme of seminars and educational events – a must-attend for anyone working in FM and wishing to remain up-to-date on the sector's latest developments.

The BSIA will be exhibiting on stand B56, and will be hosting a panel on the first day of the event, entitled: Extending the value of your security measures – how security systems can prove their worth beyond their security functions – Tuesday 11 October: 11.00-11.45 – Fire, Safety & Security Theatre.

The panel will provide Facilities Managers with invaluable insight into how security services and products can be employed to carry out functions that are not only security-related, such as health and safety, energy management, training or fire detection. Three experts from across the BSIA's membership will take part in the panel:

• Nigel Smith from the BSIA's Access Control section. He will talk about the integration of Access Control Systems with Building Energy Management Systems, helping cut utility costs
• Peter Stanton from the BSIA's CCTV section. He will talk about the use of CCTV systems for the detection and visual verification of smoke and fire
• Christopher Lawrence, Chairman of the BSIA's Security Consultancies section, will talk about integration of security systems and services and how their use can go beyond their traditional security function
Alex Carmichael, Technical Director at the BSIA, will be presenting and moderating the panel.
For the first time ever, the Association's Information Destruction Section will also be making its own presence felt on stand B74.

Organised in association with the British Institute of Facilities Management, Total Workplace Management has established itself as the leading meeting place for the FM industry. For more information and to register for free entrance into the show, please visit: www.twmexpo.com
