bpas commented on the investigation by the charity Education for Choice (EFC) into the advice offered by pro-life pregnancy counselling services.

Clare Murphy, head of public policy at bpas said: "We have received some concerning reports from the women we see about the services provided by "independent" pregnancy counselling organisations. This investigation sheds further light on what women may experience at these centres, including inaccurate information about the risks of abortion and ignorance about treatment routes and options.

"Christian and pro-life organisations offering support to women with unplanned pregnancies need to be completely transparent about who they are and their ultimate objectives. Some women may still seek their advice but they have the right to know who that advice is being offered by. Whatever the aims of an organisation may be there is simply no excuse to provide women with inaccuracies about abortion when the evidence is so readily available – and a matter of fact not opinion."
