Economy tops Brits’ concerns
Just under three-fifths of British adults think the economy is the most important issue facing the country, a new Ipsos Mori poll has found.
Fifty-eight per cent of Brits – up three points on last month – put the economy at the top of their list of concerns, followed by crime on 33 per cent.
The economy’s score is the highest Ipsos Mori has ever recorded on the issue, breaking all records since 1974.
Along with rising concern about the economy, the public are also concerned about inflation, with one in five naming this as one of the most important issues facing the country.
Despite recent rises in the national unemployment figures, just four per cent said they are concerned about pensions, and 14 per cent are concerned about unemployment.
Nevertheless, the unemployment statistic is still up three per cent from last month.
