Robert Goodwill

Biography:

Robert Goodwill was re-elected MP for Scarborough and Whitby on May 7th 2015 with 20613 votes, taking 43.2% of the vote.

He was first elected in 2005, having previously contested Redcar in 1992, and North West Leicestershire in 1997, both unsuccessfully. In 1999 he was elected to the European Parliament for the Yorkshire and Humber seat, serving in Brussels till 2004. From September 2012 to October 2013 he has been Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury, following which he was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport.

Robert was born in Terrington, North Riding of Yorkshire and was educated at the Quaker Bootham School in York. He went to the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture in 1979.
