Rehman Chishti

Biography:

Rehman Chishti was elected as Conservative MP for Gillingham and Rainham on May 7th 2015 with 22590 votes, taking 48.0% of the vote.

Rehman grew up in Gillingham where he attended Richmond Infant School, Napier Primary School, Fort Luton High School, Rainham Mark Grammar School, and Chatham Grammar School for Girls.

After completing a Law degree at the University of Wales Aberystwyth, he was called to the Bar of England and Wales at Lincolns Inn.

Rehman represented both Gillingham and Rainham as a Councillor before standing for Parliament.

He has been Special Adviser to the Rt Hon Francis Maude, a Barrister for Goldsmith Chambers and a Special Adviser to Benazir Bhutto. In July 2014, he was made Parliamentary Private Secretary to Nick Gibb, the Minister of State for Education. In May 2015, he took a similar position with Jeremy Wright, the Attorney General.
