Nick Smith

Biography:

Nick Smith was elected as Labour MP for Blaenau Gwent on May 7th 2015 with 18380 votes, taking 58.0% of the vote.

Nick was born in Cardiff and grew up in Tredegar, going to the local comprehensive school.

His last job before entering Parliament was the Director of Policy and Partnerships at the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

His previous roles included secretary general of the European Parliamentary Labour Party, campaign manager with the NSPCC and head of membership development with the Labour Party.

Nick was previously a councillor in the London Borough of Camden, where he became executive member for education. In 2012 he was elected to the Progress strategy board.

Nick is divorced, and has two daughters. He lives in Nantyglo.
