Jo Swinson

Biography:

Jo was brought up in Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire, and later graduated from the LSE with a First Class Honours degree in Management.

She has been shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs for the Liberal Democrats, as well as a party spokesperson on Women & Equality, Scotland, and the Arts, and a member of the Environmental Audit Select Committee.

Jo is active in the Liberal Democrats’ Campaign for Gender Balance. She previously stood against John Prescott in the 2001 General Election in Hull East, and for the Scottish Parliament in 2003.

She is a member of Amnesty International and Friends of the Earth, and her political interests include corporate social responsibility, climate change, quality of life and increasing participation in politics. Her hobbies include hiking, reading, ceilidh and salsa dancing.
