Jason McCartney

Biography:

Jason McCartney was elected as Conservative MP for Colne Valley on May 7th 2015 with 25264 votes, taking 44.4% of the vote.

Jason was born in Yorkshire in 1968. He lives just outside Holmfirth.

Prior to his commitment with politics, he was a presenter/journalist for Calendar News and Sport at ITV Yorkshire from 1998. Journalism, though, was Jason’s second career. For 9 years he was an RAF Officer serving at home and abroad including tours in Turkey, Las Vegas and Iraq. He reached the rank of Flight Lieutenant.

Jason is Vice Chairman of a local hospital radio charity and a governor of Sports Aid.

Jason studied to Postgraduate level to become a journalist and his first job was as a reporter for BBC local radio in Leeds & Middlesbrough.
