Imran Hussain

Biography:

Imran Hussain was elected MP for Bradford East on May 7th 2015 with 19312 votes, taking 46.6% of the vote.

Imran was first elected Councillor in the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council in 2002. In 2008 he was elected as Deputy Leader of the Council’s Labour Group, and in 2010, when Labour took control of the Council, he became Deputy Leader of Bradford Council and remained in that position for 5 years until 2015 when he was elected to Parliament. Following his election to Parliament he decided to renounce to his Council allowance, refusing to get two salaries from public office.

Imran was the first in his family to attend University and went on to qualify as a Barrister at The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.
