Gavin Williamson

Biography:

Gavin Williamson was re-elected as Conservative MP for South Staffordshire on 7th May 2015 with 29478 votes, taking 59.4% of the vote.

Gavin was born in 1976 and was educated at state primary and secondary schools. He is married to Joanne who was a primary school teacher before they had children; they have two daughters Annabel and Grace.

Prior to entering Parliament Gavin was much involved in manufacturing having turned around a Staffordshire pottery. Until May 2010, when he first became MP for Staffordshire South, Gavin was the Managing Director of an architectural design practice which has been involved in the design of many schools, public sector and commercial buildings.

Gavin was elected a County Councillor in 2001. He stood down in 2005 to contest the parliamentary seat of Blackpool North and Fleetwood in Lancashire. Since then he has been Deputy Chairman of Staffordshire Area Conservatives, Chairman of Stoke on Trent Conservative Association and Vice Chairman of Derbyshire Dales Conservative Association.

Gavin’s involvement in the voluntary sector has been extensive with him having been a charitable trustee at his local Citizens Advice Bureau and a school governor.
