Caroline Nokes

Biography:

Caroline Nokes was re-elected as Conservative MP for Romsey and Southampton North on May 7th 2015 with 26285 votes, taking 54.3% of the vote.

Caroline Nokes first contested the Romsey Parliamentary Constituency in 2005, narrowly failing to gain the seat by just 125 votes. She was immediately reselected to fight the Romsey and Southampton North seat.

Caroline is a member of Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt’s backbench support team, having previously served for 10 years as the Executive Member for Leisure on Test Valley Borough Council. She also sits on the Environmental Audit Committee.

She lives in West Wellow, the village where she grew up, with her husband Marc, daughter Tabitha, 2 dogs, 1 cat and 6 free range organic pigs.

Caroline was educated at Thornegate School Wellow, Romsey Abbey Primary School, Romsey School, La Sagesse Convent in Romsey and then Peter Symonds’ College, Winchester. She studied politics at the University of Sussex from 1991-4.

Caroline remains a member of Test Valley Borough Council, for the Romsey Extra ward, however since her election to Parliament she has taken no expenses / allowances in relation to that role.
