Bridget Phillipson

Biography:

Bridget Phillipson was re-elected as Labour MP for Houghton and Sunderland South on May 7th 2015 with 21218 votes, taking 55.1% of the vote.

Bridget was educated at St Robert of Newminster School in Washington and from there went on to study Modern History at Hertford College, Oxford.

She joined the Labour Party when she was fifteen. Before being elected, she worked for a local charity Wearside Women in Need.

Following her election to Parliament, she was elected as a member of the Home Affairs Select Committee and was also aSshadow Junior Defense Minister.

She lives in Hetton le Hole with her husband Lawrence.
