NASUWT calls on Liberal Democrat delegates to show guts and determination in today’s education debate
The NASUWT, the largest teachers’ union is calling on Liberal Democrat delegates to give their full support to a motion to be debated at their Conference this morning on Academies and Free Schools.
If passed the motion will deal a severe blow to Michael Gove’s ideologically driven programme of new academies and free schools.
Chris Keates, General Secretary of the NASUWT, who is at the Conference, said:
“This is a critically important debate.
“A stark choice faces the delegates.
“Do they show guts and determination and stand up for their own vision of education or do they continue to tamely trot behind the Tories as they turn the state system into a free market free for all?”
