PCS: Mark Serwotka response to Richard Balfe

Responding to Richard Balfe’s comments reported in the Telegraph today, Public and Commercial Services union general secretary Mark Serwotka
said:

“We don’t seek a confrontation, but the Tories don’t appear to be prepared to listen. With no democratic mandate, the coalition has just produced possibly the most regressive budget in living memory, where it intends to make low paid and vulnerable people pay for the economic crisis. We believe there is an alternative to these spending cuts but, if we have to, it’s right and inevitable that we will stand up for the jobs and pensions of public servants, as well as the essential services they provide to the public.”
