NASUWT: Appointment of Michael Gove
Commenting on the appointment of Michael Gove as Education Secretary, Chris Keates, General Secretary of the NASUWT, the largest teachers’ union, said:
“I congratulate Michael on his appointment.
“We look forward to developing a constructive working relationship on an agenda to continue to support teachers and school leaders to raise educational standards.
“The NASUWT will be keen to identify areas of common ground to protect state education which is so vital to the economic and social wellbeing of the country.
“Parents and the public made clear their views in the run-up to the Election on the importance of local and national government having direct involvement in running schools. The NASUWT shares those views.”
