NASUWT comments on the Plaid Cymru manifesto
Commenting on the publication of the Plaid Cymru Manifesto, Chris Keates General Secretary of the NASUWT said:
“At the core of the Manifesto is the debate about fair funding for Wales.
“Equally important is fair and appropriate funding for education.
“At a time of recession, however, the debate cannot simply be about more funding.
“Politicians in Wales must play their part by looking for greater efficiencies and more transparency in the way in which funding is spent.
“An issue which must be considered is whether the current number of local authorities are sustainable and the most efficient use of public money. A debate on this is long overdue.
“Plaid’s cannot expect all other parts of the UK to pay for their spending spree. They need to demonstrate that they have a sound and realistic fiscal policy.”
