Road Haulage Association supports motor industry scrapping scheme

The RHA believes that the introduction of a motor vehicle scrappage scheme, similar to the one in Germany, could pay dividends in getting the UK economy moving again.

“Of course we would like to see commercial vehicles included which would certainly be a shot in the arm for the UK’s van makers,” said RHA Chief Executive Roger King.

“The haulage industry is actively engaged in moving components throughout the automotive supply chain so any demand uplift would feed through as a stimulus to haulage operations. We can see no reason why a car could not be scrapped to partially offset the purchase of a new van or truck.”
