RHA welcomes news from Grangemouth

Phil Flanders, RHA’s Scotland & Northern Ireland Director welcomed the news that there is hopefully an end in sight to the uncertainty about fuel supplies at Grangemouth.

“We hope that the proposed deal is accepted by Unite’s members and we can get back to doing what we do best…delivering the goods”, he said.

The uncertainty over the past week has had an serious impact on the haulage industry with hauliers in many cases unable to get the amount of fuel they need to operate effectively and efficiently. However, we still have a problem with the highest deisel price in Europe and both these issues will be highlighted to MSP’s at Holyrood at 12 noon today (30th April) when a delegation of RHA members from all over Scotland will meet with the politicians.

Following the meeting, Phil Flanders together with RHA Chairman for Scotland, Mr Don Barclay, will meet with Cabinet Secretary John Swinney and his officials.
