Philip Aspey QPM

The award of a QPM in the New Year’s Honours List to the Association’s former National Secretary, Chief Superintendent Philip Aspey, has been praised by his colleagues.

Phil served as Secretary for three years prior to his retirement from the Service in September 2007, and for three years as Deputy Secretary before that.

On receiving his award, Phil said: ‘I am immensely proud to be awarded the Queen’s Police Medal.

‘I believe this award reflects the vital and pivotal role played by Superintendents and Chief Superintendents in today’s Police Service.

‘Their dedication and professionalism impacts on all aspects of policing and they provide visible leadership extending from the very local face of neighbourhood policing to the most complex and technical of international investigations.

‘It has been a privilege to represent them.’

Association President, Chief Superintendent Ian Johnston, said: ‘Phil thoroughly deserves this award. He worked tirelessly on behalf of his colleagues throughout his time with the Association and it is only right that his efforts should be recognised in this way.’
