Blue Peter Vet Set to Examine Winning Pics at Prestigious Awards Ceremony
Blue Peter vet Tricia Mundy will host the prestigious RSPCA Young Photographer Awards ceremony at the Natural History Museum, London on Friday 14 December, from 12.30pm.
Now in its 17th year, the competition, sponsored by Olympus and Warners Midland, attracts thousands of entries annually from photographers under the age of 18. Also due to attend is RSPCA Chief Vet, and well-known TV presenter Mark Evans.
Shortlisted finalists include two youngsters each with an amazing five pictures in the running for an award – 10-year-old Alex Worthington from Lancaster, and 14-year-old Catriona Parfitt from Southampton. Also from Southampton is 12-year-old Megan McCubbin – daughter of wildlife photographer and former Young Photographer Awards presenter Chris Packham.

2. Tricia Mundy was born Africa and brought up in north London. She got a scholarship to Cambridge University where she was featured in a “fly on the wall documentary” called Black Ambition on BBC 2 in January 2004 which followed eight ambitious Black British students through Cambridge University and onto their chosen careers. She graduated in 2005 with two degrees – the first in Geography specialising in the conflicts between conservationist and indigenous people in Africa, and a second degree in Veterinary Medicine. She is currently undertaking a Masters in Small Animal Surgery and Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College in London. Since January 2006 Tricia has featured in a ten part BBC 1 “fly on the wall documentary” called Super Vets based at the Royal Veterinary College, she is also the current Blue Peter Vet and is a regular contributor to various veterinary journals.
