BASC: Bumper crowds flock to Gamekeepers’ Fair
Thousands of people turned out to support the 2007 BASC Gamekeepers’ Fair at Catton Park in Derbyshire on the hottest weekend of the year so far.
Attractions at the 2007 fair, which was held on 14/15 April, included gundog and historic firearms displays and the Pipes and Drums of the 2nd Battalion Royal Gurkha Regiment.
Catton has been in the hands of the same family since 1405, and the present Hall, built in 1745, is the home of Robin and Katie Neilson. The elegant surroundings proved an excellent backdrop for this unique event.
Carl Cox, BASC Midland regional director said: ‘The Gamekeepers’ Fair is always a special event and gives a unique opportunity, like no other event, for BASC ‘keepers from all over the country to meet, exchange news and meet up with their specialist traders. We are extremely proud to have such true professional custodians of our countryside.”
The BASC Gamekeepers’ Fair 2008 will be held on 12/13 April. Details will be added to the new Game fair web site www.gamefair2007.com nearer the time.
