BMF show looking good!

19th & 20th May, East of England Showground, Peterborough

With just five weeks to go until Europe’s biggest out door bike show opens its gates, things are looking good for the BMF Show.

This year’s BMF Show marks its 30th year at Peterborough’s East of England Showground and despite increased competition from a crowded calendar of motorcycle events, the BMF Show is still the largest outdoor bike show of its type in Europe. With attendances regularly topping 80,000 and over 600 exhibitors covering everything in biking from major manufacturers to local clubs, it’s a massive celebration of motorcycling and a key fund-raiser for the British Motorcyclists Federation.

Unlike many smaller shows, major manufacturers including, BMW, Triumph, Honda, Yamaha and Victory will be displaying their latest ranges as will all the major clothing and accessory retailers such as Frank Thomas, Hein Gericke and Proto UK. Smaller traders too are snapping up bookings with the indoor trade area full and 80% of outdoor plots already taken.

BMF Show arena events will feature the ever-popular Moped Enduro, which this year features a massive field of 65 teams and also a round of spectacular UK Short Track Racing. A cross between supermoto and speedway and with close racing guaranteed, the BMF Show will feature the 2nd round of the UK Championships. Featuring top riders, Short Track racing will feature a wide variety of bikes from single cylinder through to multi-cylinder 1000 cc hybrids from a whole host of manufacturers. See www.shorttrackuk.com for more.

In addition, on the Sunday the BMF Show plays host to the exciting Short Track Nations Cup. Eight teams including England, Wales, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Switzerland and the USA will be competing against each other for the prestigious title of Short Track Nations Cup Championship.

Also on Sunday will be Girlbiker 2007, a one-off event based on the ‘Miss Federation’ competition held in 1977. Sponsored by GirlsBike 2, competitors must be BMF members and bike licence holders. The winning entry will receive £50 of Girls Bike 2 clothing vouchers, a Trophy and the predictable Sash!!

To complete the arena events, top stunt rider Jason Smyth will be performing his spectacular stunt show and after a period of several years’ absence, The Imps junior motorcycle stunt team will be displaying their own special skills. All of this interspersed with regular Vintage speedway demonstrations.
The Best In Show competition, offering a total prize fund worth up to £3,000 and sponsored by Carole Nash Insurance, is bound to attract bikes from all eras. With individual class prizes of £300 and a ‘Best In Show’ additional prize of £400 plus a year’s free insurance courtesy of Carole Nash insurance, this competition has become increasingly popular with competitors and the public alike.
With a Two-Wheel Tours section, plus side shows including the Wall of Death, Rifle Range, Kids Quads, Mini Motorcycles and fair rides for all ages, it’s no surprise that the BMF has become THE annual fixture for thousands of enthusiasts.

For BMF members, there is also the Memba Rally camping weekend running over the same weekend at nearby Elton Hall. Providing BMF members with an exclusive event of their own, complete with bands and entertainment on the Friday and Saturday nights, shuttle buses will take campers to and from the Show site.
