10,000 children try taste of venison at educational shows

BASC has introduced venison to more than 10,000 children at food and farming days in Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire over the past month. The BASC Eastern team attended three events where they cooked venison tasters and gave talks about the health benefits of eating this delicious source of protein.

NASUWT: Teachers fined for doing their job

Following a lawful national ballot, teachers at Stratford Academy, like the overwhelming majority of teachers right across the country, are making a stand against undertaking tasks which distract them from their core role of teaching, and which do not require their skills as qualified teachers.The teachers at Stratford Academy have continued to prepare for and teach their lessons, mark and assess pupils’ work and carry out all those tasks which, in their professional judgement, assist them in focusing on teaching and learning. All clubs and activities which teachers run voluntarily in their own time are continuing. Yet despite this, punitive financial deductions have been made from teachers’ wages by the school governors.

NASUWT Cymru members forced back into strike action

Members of the NASUWT, the largest teachers’ union in Wales, will start three days of strike action at Heolddu Comprehensive School in Caerphilly tomorrow (Tuesday) following the failure of the governing body and the Caerphilly authority to take appropriate action to ensure that they can work in an environment free from bullying and intimidation.
