10,000 children try taste of venison at educational shows

BASC has introduced venison to more than 10,000 children at food and farming days in Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire over the past month. The BASC Eastern team attended three events where they cooked venison tasters and gave talks about the health benefits of eating this delicious source of protein.

BHA: Lords Reform Bill debated in Commons for the first time

During the first of two parliamentary debates on the reform of the House of Lords, the Government’s proposals to retain Church of England bishops have come under sustained attack. The British Humanist Association (BHA) has denounced the proposals, which would continue to reserve seats exclusively for men of the Anglican Church, as ‘unjust, unpopular and unfair’.

BHA: Church looks to use its schools as tools for evangelisation

Yesterday saw the Church of England set out its recent Church School of the Future Review, also known as the Chadwick Report, at the General Synod. Introducing the report, John Pritchard, Bishop of Oxford and chairman of the Church of England board of education, argued that Church schools are ‘absolutely and irrevocably at the heart of our mission’, and explained that they are working on a new curriculum that will mean that ‘the Christian faith right the way through its life, not just in RE and collective worship.’ The British Humanist Association (BHA) has questioned the legality of such a move.
