Wes Streeting

Biography:

Wes Streeting was elected MP for Ilford North on May 7th 2015 with 21463 votes, taking 43.9% of the vote.

Alongside being an MP, Wes also represents Aldborough Ward on Redbridge Council, where he served as deputy leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing until his election. Wes has also covered the role of primary school governor, board member of Redbridge Sport and Leisure in Barkingside and trustee of Redbridge Citizens Advice Bureau in Ilford. Being particularly interested in the wellbeing of students, has also conducted various campaigns, from the one that focused an anti-bullying campaign to another that aimed to improve the support given to people from under-privileged backgrounds to get to university, to ‘Education for All’ that tackled homophobia in schools.

Born in 1983, he graduated in History from the University of Cambridge, where he also served as President of the Cambridge University Student’s Union between 2004 and 2005. Moreover, he is a former National President of the National Union of Students (NUS) in the UK.
