Stephen Doughty

Biography:

Stephen Doughty was elected MP for Cardiff South & Penarth on May 7th 2015 with 19966 votes, taking 42.8% of the vote.

In November 2012 Stephen was elected as MP for Cardiff South and Penarth, being first the Parliamentary Private Secretary to Rachel Reeves in the role of Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury and then of Opposition Whip, working with the Business and Wales teams and the Welsh Affairs Select Committee at the same time. Stephen is also a Co-operative Party politician and a trade union member.

Stephen was born in Cardiff in 1980, before his family moved to the Vale of Glamorgan. He studied at Lester B. Pearson United World College of the Pacific in Canada, at Corpus Christi College, Oxford University and at the University of St Andrews. During his early career, he has worked in various roles for Oxfam International and, in 2011, became the head of Oxfam Cymry.
