Rachel Reeves

Biography:

Rachel Reeves was re-elected as Labour MP for Leeds West on May 7th 2015 with 18456 votes, taking 48.0% of the vote.

Since her election, Rachel has sat on the House of Commons Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee.

In 2013, she has been appointed as shadow Minister for Pensions in Ed Miliband’s shadow front bench team at the Department for Work and Pensions.

Rachel spent her professional career as an economist working for the Bank of England, the British Embassy in Washington and at Halifax Bank of Scotland.

Rachel holds a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics, and a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from New College, Oxford.

Educated at state schools in South East London. Prior to her election, Rachel served as a governor at two West Leeds schools.

Rachel lives in Kirkstall.
