Nigel Mills

Biography:

Nigel Mills was elected as Conservative MP for Amber Valley on May 7th 2015 with 20106 votes, taking 44.0% of the vote.

Nigel is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He worked as a tax adviser, specialising in advising UK businesses on International Tax issues.

Nigel was born in Jacksdale and has lived in the area his whole life. Aside from politics, Nigel’s is a keen follower of sport – he is a season ticket holder at Notts County and a member of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.

Nigel has been involved in local politics since 1997, and served on Amber Valley Borough Council since 2004, representing Shipley Park, Horsley and Horsley Woodhouse ward. He was also elected to Heanor and Loscoe Town Council in 2007.

Nigel has a degree in Classics from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1999.

Nigel has worked a tax adviser for 12 years – originally dealing with small businesses and personal tax but more recently specialising in advising businesses on international tax issues, and especially on inward investment into the UK.
