Biography:
Mike Kane was elected MP for Wythenshawe & Sale East on May 7th 2015 with 21693 votes, taking 50.1% of the vote.
Mike joined the Labour Party when he was 18, and is an experienced politician. In 1991 he was elected to Manchester City Council in Northenden ward and retained his seat for the following three elections, in 1995, 1999 and 2003. He lost the 2008 election only by eight votes. Between 2008 and 2014 Mike worked in different roles for a number of politician, including James Purnell MP and Jonathan Reynolds MP.
Before starting his political career, Kane was a primary school teacher.
