Maria Caulfield

Biography:

Maria Caulfield was elected MP for Lewes on May 7th 2015 with 19206 votes, taking 38.0% of the vote.

Prior to the election, Maria was a nurse at the Royal Marsden in Chelsea and was leading a team specialised in cancer research. Her commitment with the Conservative Party started when she joined a campaign to save local hospitals in the Brighton area. In 2007 she was elected Councillor of Brighton and Hove City and, while she was serving in the Council, she was involved in many campaigns, including the one based in Seaford and Newhaven that aimed to save the Seaford Household Recycling site from closure.

Maria was born in 1974 to Irish immigrant parents and grew up in Wandsworth, London. She is a member of the Conservative Christian Fellowship (CCF) and supports some Pro-Life issues.
