Lisa Nandy

Biography:

Lisa Nandy was elected as Labour MP for Wigan on May 7th 2015 with 23625 votes, taking 52.2% of the vote.

Lisa grew up in the North West of England and lives in the centre of Wigan.

For the last 5 years she has worked for a national children’s charity, The Children’s Society.

She has been active in her community since joining the Labour party – as a school governor, a charity trustee, a director of a local theatre and as a Labour councillor.

Lisa graduated from Newcastle University in 2001, and later earned a Masters degree from the University of London, studying as a mature student.

She went on to work as a parliamentary researcher and caseworker for Labour MP Neil Gerrard. This led to a two year stint at the youth homeless charity Centrepoint.

Lisa is a member of the UNITE union.
