Kwasi Kwarteng

Biography:

Kwasi Kwarteng was re-elected as Conservative MP for Spelthorne on May 7th 2015 with 24386 votes, taking 49.7% of the vote.

Kwasi was born in London and grew up there. Kwasi won a scholarship to Eton College, at the age of 13.

Kwasi proceeded to read history at Trinity College, Cambridge.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree and a PhD in British History and was also on the series-winning team on University Challenge in Jeremy Paxman’s first year as the host.

Kwasi worked as a company analyst in the City for seven years, and as a journalist.

He was Conservative Candidate for Brent East at the General Election of 2005, Chairman of the Bow Group in 2006 and a candidate for the London Assembly in 2008.

He is also the author or the book Ghosts of Empire, which narrates the global legacy of the British Empire.

He won selection as a candidate in an open primary.
