Julie Cooper

Biography:

Julie Cooper was elected MP for Burnley on May 7th 2015 with 14951 votes, taking 37.6% of the vote.

Julie has served as a Councillor for the Bank Hall Ward since 2005. During this time she has held several positions of responsibility including being Councillor Leader from 2012-2014. In the 2015 UK general election, Julie defeated the sitting Liberal Democrat MP Gordon Birtwistle with a 6.3% swing.

Thanks to her, Burnley has been awarded as The Most Enterprising Town in the UK. She has introduced the Living Wage to Burnley Council and she has battled to safeguard the NHS.
