John Howell

Biography:

John Howell was re-elected MP for Henley on May 7th 2015 with 32292 votes, taking 58.5% of the vote.

He was first elected in a 2008 by-election, taking over from predecessor Boris Johnson. Following the 2010 General Election, Howell was appointed the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Leader of the House of Commons and the Lord Privy Seal. He also served on the Work and Pensions Select Committee and Justice Committee. Prior to his public commitment, he worked as a tax inspector and as a tax adviser. John has also been a presenter for BBC World and was a councillor on Oxfordshire County Council from 2004 to 2009. In 2000, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for “services to Export in Central and Eastern Europe.”

John studied at the University of Edinburgh and obtained a PHD in archaeology from St John’s College, Oxford.
