Biography:
Jo Cox was elected MP for Batley and Spen on May 7th 2015 with 21826 votes, taking 43.2% of the vote.
Jo is particularly interested in the views and needs of women, and in 2013 founded UK Women, a research company focused on understanding and responding to these aspects. In 2009 she won the Davos World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leader award and in 2012 the DEVEX’40 under 40 International Development Leaders Award.
Jo has studied Social and Political Studies at Cambridge University and holds a M.A. in Europe and the World from London School of Economics and Political Science.
Before becoming an MP, Jo worked as an aid worker and charity campaigner.
On June 16th 2016 Jo was tragically attacked and killed in her constituency.
