Jim Shannon

Biography:

Jim Shannon was re-elected as DUP MP for Strangford on May 7th 2015 with 15053 votes, taking 44.4% of the vote.

Jim Shannon was a also a sitting Councillor on Ards Borough Council and was first elected in 1985, becoming Mayor in 1991 – 92 and is the current leader of the DUP group within the Council.

Jim is married to Sandra and has 3 boys; he lives on the family farm outside Greyabbey. He was educated at Ballywalter Primary School.

Jim is a member of the Baptist Church in Newtownards, and a member of the Ulster Farmers Union.

Jim is also the former chairman of Ards DPP. Jim sits on the Board of Governors at Glastry College.
