Jeremy Wright

Biography:

Jeremy Wright was re-elected MP for Kenilworth and Southam on May 7th 2015 with 28474 votes, taking 58.4% of the vote.

Jeremy was born in Taunton, Somerset. His parents were both teachers and he has one brother who is a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy. Educated at Taunton School, Trinity School New York City, Exeter University and the Inns of Court School of Law, Jeremy was called to the Bar in 1996 and specialised in Criminal Law, both prosecution and defence, in the West Midlands until his election to Parliament.
Jeremy was elected to Parliament in May 2005 to represent the constituency of Rugby & Kenilworth. In July 2007 he was appointed as an Opposition Whip. More recently, David Cameron appointed him Attorney General for England and Wales
Advocate General for Northern Ireland, on July 2014.

Jeremy has recently been re-elected as Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Dementia. The Group, which was set up under Jeremy’s initiative in 2007, has attracted more than 50 members from the Houses of Parliament. The Group is cross party with officers elected from the Labour Party and Liberal Democrat Party, as well as the House of Lords. Jeremy is also a trustee of the Community Development Foundation and he has served on the Constitutional Affairs Select Committee.

Jeremy is married to Yvonne, Head of Governance Support at the University of Warwick. They have one daughter called Stephanie. When not busy in Westminster or the constituency, Jeremy’s interests include travel, especially to the USA, music, James Bond films and playing golf badly.
