Hugh Bayley

Biography:

Hugh Bayley was elected MP for York Central in May 2010 with a majority of 6,451 votes.

Hugh Bayley has been MP for City of York since 1992 and was Minister for Social Security between 1999-2001. He is a Chairman of Public Bill Committees. He is Chair and founding member of the Africa All Party Parliamentary Group. He has been a member of the House of Commons’ International Development Select Committee since 2001.

He is a member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and Rapporteur of its Economic Sub-Committee on Transatlantic Relations.

Hugh Bayley is Chair of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and from October 2005 until October 2008 he was Chairman of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy. He is also an Executive Committee Member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (UK Branch).
