Heather Wheeler

Biography:

Heather Wheeler was elected as Conservative MP for South Derbyshire on May 7th 2015 with 25066 votes, taking 49.4% of the vote.

Aged 50 with husband Bob and daughter Harriet, 22 have lived in Bretby for the last 21 years.

Heather was elected onto South Derbyshire District Council 15 years ago and is currently Leader of the Conservatives. She fought two General Elections in Coventry.

Heather was brought up in Wandsworth and elected Councillor there at the age of 22. After serving a full council term she then married Bob and moved to the area in 1986.

After working in the City of London for 10 years, Heather qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Since becoming an MP, she has been elected on to the Standards and Privileges Select Committee and is an executive of the 1922 committee of backbench Conservative MPs.
