Gordon Marsden

Gordon Marsden was re-elected MP for Blackpool South on May 7th 2015 with 13548 votes, taking 41.8% of the vote.

Gordon has been at the heart of Blackpool issues and campaigns for over 17 years – ever since being selected as Parliamentary candidate and has an office and home in South Shore.

He was born and brought up in the North West and educated at Stockport Grammar School. He was the Editor of History Today magazine, which he ran as a small business for 12 years, and an Open University tutor.

Gordon is President of the British Resorts and Destinations Association and chair of a Seaside Towns Manifesto Group. He’s campaigned ceaselessly in Parliament to highlight the particular needs and priorities of Blackpool and other seaside towns.

Gordon was a Member of Parliament’s Innovation, Universities & Skills Select Committee – helping develop policy on citizenship and young people, skills, further education, and special educational needs.

He was also Chair of the All Party-Parliamentary Skills Group and he is interested in tackling the adult skills gap and re-skilling older workers which is key to the regeneration of Blackpool.

Gordon spends his time in Parliament lobbying for Blackpool and taking issues on behalf of his constituents. When Parliament isn’t sitting Gordon visits local community groups and events in Blackpool and works hard to hold the Conservative-run Council to account.
