Drew Hendry

Biography:

Drew Hendry was elected MP for Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey on May 7th 2015 with 28838 votes, taking 50.1% of the vote.

Drew was first elected in the 2007 Local Elections for the Aird and Loch Ness Ward with 892 first preferences taking the third seat out of four. In 2011 he was appointed leader of the SNP Highland Council group. In September 2007, he was appointed to the board of the Cairngorms National Park Authority. From 2012-2015 he was Council leader, then followed his election to Parliament. He is the SNP Transport spokesperson in the House of Commons.

Born and bred in Edunburgh, he first got interested in politics with the Scottish referendum of 1979.
