Dan Jarvis

Biography:

Dan Jarvis was re-elected MP for Barnsley Central on May 7th 2015 with 20376 votes, taking 55.7% of the vote.

Dan has been first elected on March 3rd 2011, and sat in Parliament as a shadow minister, first for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, and then for Justice.

Dan was born in Nottingham in 1972. Before starting his political career, Dan graduated at Aberystwyth University in 1996 and then attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, that allowed him to start a career in the Army. In 2003 Dan was promoted to Major, and subsequently has been awarded the MBE. In January 2011 he became the first person since Second World War to resign his commission in order to contest a parliamentary by-election.
