Callum McCaig

Biography:

Callum McCaig was elected MP for Aberdeen South on May 7th 2015 with 20221 votes, taking 41.6% of the vote.

Callum was first elected as a councillor on Aberdeen City Council in 2007, when with a coalition the SNP lead the Council. In the following years he became the Leader of Aberdeen City Council, from 2011 until 2012; at the time, at the age of 26 he was one of the youngest council leaders in all of the United Kingdom. He was re-elected again in 2012, but was no longer the Council leader after the Scottish Labour Party group formed an administration with the support of the Conservatives and Independents.

Born in Aberdeen, he was educated at Cults Academy, before studying at the University of Edinburgh, where he graduated with an MA (Hons) in Politics.
