Andrew Bingham

Biography:

Andrew Bingham was re-elected Conservative MP for High Peak on May 7th 2015 with 22836 votes, taking 45.0% of the vote.

Andrew was the Conservative candidate for the High Peak in the 2005 General Election where he narrowly failed to win the seat by just 735 votes.

High Peak born and bred, Andrew was born in, and has lived in the High Peak all his life. He lives in Chapel-en-le-Frith in the constituency.

He spent much of his career as a partner in a small family firm supplying engineering equipment to companies across the High Peak and North West area. He is a keen follower of most sports particularly cricket and football, and is also an enthusiastic cook. He has been married to Jayne for 24 years.

As well as his business career he has been active in politics for several years. He was first elected to High Peak Borough Council in 1999.

In 2007 Andrew became Executive Member for Social Inclusion and Community Development and has overseen great improvements to the Council’s play areas and also the proposed refurbishments to the Councils leisure centres. In June 2014 he was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to Minister of State for the Armed Forces, Mark Francois MP.

Andrew’s main political interests are affordable housing and small businesses.
