Alan Mak

Biography:

Alan Mak was elected MP for Havant on May 7th 2015 with 23159 votes, taking 51.7% of the vote.

Alan joined the Conservative Party in 2000 to help William Hague’s ‘Save the Pound’ campaign. He is a former chairman of the Coningsby Club – an historic Conservative policy discussion group for Oxbridge Conservatives – and is a member of different Conservative’s groups, as the Conservative Christian Fellowship (CCF). Alan is also very interested in American politics, and was a member of the Conservative Party’s Delegation to the 2012 US Republican Convention in Tampa, Florida. During the years, he has joined different charities and associations, has become a speaker for Speakers for Schools and won a number of business awards for his professional career, including from Management Today/Sky (“One to Watch” business leader), Square Mile Magazine (Top 30 under 30) and the Guardian/Courvoisier (Future 500).

Alan is the first ever ethnic Chinese elected to the national parliament. Born in 1968, he grew up in York where his parents started and ran a small family business.
